Gender: Male
Species: Human
Canonical Job:"Holistic Detective"
Personality: Dirk is a very, VERY excitable man. To him, everything is an adventure and something amazing. He has absolutely no filter and can come across as rude, annoying, and a bit of a presumptuous asshole. In truth, he does care about the few people who decide to stay with him as friends. Everything about him is eccentric and strange, from his mannerisms down to his sense of style. Underneath everything repugnant, he's kind and friendly, only longing for human interaction.

Powers: He is psychic, though he doesn't believe he really is.
His only real power is to be able to see "the interconnectedness of all things", a fancy term for being able to see how everything is connected. Dirk more sees his powers as an ability to have very good hunches over something supernatural.

Weaknesses:
* His powers are only as good as his deductive reasoning is and how well he can see the connections using evidence presented to him.
* Because he is an awkward man, he has a difficult time making and keeping friends.
* He can't drive stick shift.
* He may be a good bluff, but he doesn't know what he's doing a lot of the time.
* He is a smoker. He doesn't do it nearly as often as he used to, but the cravings still remain.

Strengths:
* It may be a part of his powers, but he is a very lucky man with a habit of being at the right place at the right time.
* Despite not knowing what he's doing,
he is decent at being a detective.
* He can adapt to any situation easily.
* He is a good secret keeper.
* He is a very accepting person.

History: *Most of Dirk's early life was spent in a government group known as Blackwing under Project Icarus. Blackwing sought out and trained people with psychic abilities to serve the government. With the help of Sally Mills, a woman from the time line of a different Dirk Gently, he escaped Blackwing and went on the run.
Later in life, he was hired by a billionaire named Patrick Spring to solve his murder some time before the man actually died. Because of this case,
he met a former bellhop named Todd Brotzman. The two investigated the murder, and while this was happening other mysteries presented themselves: a device that could switch souls, the disappearance of Spring's daughter Lydia, and a cult that used the soul swapping machine to live forever, among others. They meet Farah Black, Spring's head of security who felt guilty that she could not protect her employer and Todd's sister Amanda, who suffered from an ailment that gave her realistic-feeling hallucinations. All of this happened while Dirk's past came to haunt him as the Rowdy 3, a group of four men with the power to feed on emotion, showed up and a "holistic assassin" named Bart Curlish tried to kill him.
Todd and Dirk eventually wrapped everything up and Dirk suggested starting a detective agency. Farah was going to help fund the business, but just as the idea was discussed, Dirk vanished...
Items in Pocket: A knife and a cell phone.
Item Taken From Home: A black tee-shirt for the band "Mexican Funeral", a band that Todd was in and totally screwed over.
